The Davis County Sheriff’s Office responded to a plane crash today at approximately 2:00 this afternoon up Farmington Canyon. A passer by called 911 when they noticed a small plane on fire just off the Farmington Canyon Road. Farmington Fire, United States Forrest Service, Davis County Sheriff’s Office and the Federal Aviation Administration responded to the site of the crash. The small plane was still in flames when Farmington Fire arrived on scene. The flames were quickly controlled and extinguished. The plane had three occupants,a pilot and two passengers, who walked away from the wreckage with only minor injuries. Initial reports from the crash site indicate the pilot attempted to land the aircraft on Farmington Canyon Road after experiencing a malfunction leading to a loss of power. The plane then slid off the road and into the brush and caught on fire. Further details of the crash are currently under investigation at this time. The Health Inspector responded to ensure there was no public safety issues associated with the crash.
The on scene investigation is now complete and the Farmington Canyon is currently open to the public.
