At 8:23pm Davis County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call of a 19 year old male who fell 33 feet while hiking by Miller Creek up Farmington Canyon and suffered non life threatening injuries. He was with two other individuals who were able to call 911. Davis County Sheriff’s Office, Farmington Fire, Davis County Search and Rescue and Life Flight responded to the area in order to search for the patient. The rescuers were able to make contact with the three individuals and stabilize the patient on the mountain. The medical helicopter was unable to extricate the patient due to the fact that it was now to dark. The rescuers are still on scene with the patient and preparing to transport him off the mountain. An update will be made by 0900 on 6/14/15.

Rescue crews and Davis County Sheriff’s stayed with the patient all night while trying to coordinate a rescue. The patient may have spinal injuries which made the need for a medical helicopter necessary. The Department of Public Safety, Life Flight and the National Guard worked together in making the best plan to get him off the mountain. Life flight was able to extricate the patient at 0700 this morning. The patient was flown in stable condition to a local IHC hospital where he is being treated for his injuries. All responding agencies did an excellent job in working together throughout the night in order to make this a successful rescue operation.
