Fatal Auto-Pedestrian Accident

On July 9, 2014, at 0746 hours, crews were dispatched to an auto-pedestrian accident in county area of 800 E. Mutton Hollow. Dispatchers advised that CPR had been initiated. When emergency crews from the Davis County Sheriff’s Office and Kaysville Fire Department arrived, they found a 92-year-old woman who, witnesses stated, had attempted to cross the road and was struck by a vehicle travelling eastbound.

The driver of the vehicle stated he had poor visibility due to morning sun on the windshield, and initially believed he had hit a deer. It was not until he stopped after the impact that he learned it was a woman. Rescue crews attempted to resuscitate the victim, 92-year-old Ruth Perkins, of north Davis County area, but were unable. There have been no arrests made in this incident. This remains an active investigation.
