DAVIS COUNTY AND CITY OFFICIALS REINFORCE STATEWIDE CAMPFIRES AND FIREWORKS RESTRICTIONS
Davis County—June 29, 2012
A representative from the Davis County Commission office, along with city and county officials within Davis County, held a meeting today regarding fireworks restrictions and the banning of campfires throughout unincorporated Davis County and Forest Service areas. All city and county representatives present at the meeting were unified in their concerns regarding the extreme fire danger this season.
The consensus of all those present was that law enforcement and fire department officials will take a zero tolerance approach to violations of the fireworks and campfire ban put in place this year by the State Fire Marshall. Each city within Davis County has adopted its own restrictions, and those ordinances may be viewed on your city’s webpage. We encourage all to check for your local restrictions at those sites.
All officials present expressed a desire for the public to enjoy the July Fourth Holiday however, when celebrating with fireworks and a fire is started, even when done in a location without restrictions, you will be held responsible for the costs/damages incurred.
If you observe suspicious activity or witness illegal campfires or fireworks, please contact your local law enforcement immediately to report these activities. All agencies involved are doing everything possible to remove the human factors in wild land fires. Patrols have been increased during the busy hours and the holidays.
