“Drop, Cover, Hold On!” Utah’s Great Shakeout Today at 10:15

Today at 10:15 am, the Davis County Sheriff’s Office will be participating in the Great Utah Shakeout drill.  At exactly 10:15, a simulated 7.0 earthquake will hit the Wasatch Front, including Davis County.  The Sheriff’s Office will “Drop, Cover and Hold On,” for approximately 5 minutes.  When the simulated earthquake is finished, our contingency plan will go into effect.  This includes evacuation of the building and responses from key people to our contract cities and areas of coverage to ensure the safety of the citizen’s we serve.  Those cities include West Point, Fruit Heights and South Weber City.    The Emergency Operations Center will be activated today, with coordination from the State of Utah, as well as the cities within Davis County.  This is only a drill, but we encourage all residents of Davis County to participate in this event.  We are all aware we live on a faultline and earthquakes happen.  Preparedness can help minimize the damage to our part of the world.
